French Bread

Mix and let sit for 5 minutes:
2 ½ cups warm water (105-115)
2 heaping Tbsp. Yeast
2 Tbsp. Sugar

Gradually add:
6 cups flour
1 Tbsp. Salt
2 Tbsp. Canola Oil

Knead dough for 10 minutes. Divide dough in half and shape into loaves, tuck ends if needed. Sprinkle cookie sheet with cornmeal and place loaves on sheet. Let rise for 30 minutes, cut slits. Bake for 25 minutes at 400 degrees F.

Mix ½ cup water and 1 ½ tsp cornstarch
Heat until thickened. Brush loaves with this mixture. Bake 15 minutes and brush loaves again. Bake another 5-10 minutes.
